Jean Pierre Nereyabagabo

Jean Pierre is an agricultural engineer with advanced studies in Poverty Reduction, Food Security Policy, and Rural Development from SOAS University of London, complemented by executive certification in Humanitarian Leadership from Luzern University, Switzerland. With over 27 years of experience across more than 15 African and four Asian countries, he has led complex humanitarian and development interventions in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. His expertise spans emergency response, agricultural and food security strategy design, program implementation, monitoring and evaluation systems, with a sustained focus on resilience, rural transformation, and poverty reduction. He has held senior advisory and coordination roles with FAO, WFP, IFAD, World Vision International, and the ICRC, providing policy guidance to Ministries of Agriculture and shaping national and regional frameworks. As Climate Change and Adaptation Lead for the Sahel, West, and Central Africa, he advanced regional climate resilience initiatives and integrated risk-informed agricultural planning. Jean Pierre has authored and led rapid assessments, strategic agro plans, and analytical tools across the Sahel and West Africa, including national ICRC agro-strategies, climate risk analysis frameworks, and operational reviews in conflict-affected regions. His work bridges field diagnostics with strategic programming. He also contributes to academia as a lecturer and trainer, delivering specialized courses on food security and agricultural development to strengthen institutional and professional capacity.
