Dr. Hamouda Kanu

Dr. Hamouda Mohamedani Kanu is a seasoned expert in post-conflict reconstruction and development, peacebuilding, and human security, with more than three decades of professional experience across Africa. He holds a PhD in Human Security Strategic Planning, complemented by advanced academic training in education planning, education sciences, and English and French languages. Dr. Kanu has held senior leadership and advisory roles within major international and regional institutions. His career includes serving as Head of Security Sector Reform with AMISOM, Security Sector Reform Expert at the African Union Commission, Head of Humanitarian Programs with Oxfam America in Darfur, and Training Officer with the United Nations Mission in Sudan. Earlier in his career, he held senior field management positions with Ockenden International and Save the Children UK, overseeing humanitarian, community development, and water and sanitation programs. Dr. Kanu has led and facilitated high-level assessments, policy development initiatives, and capacity-building programs related to peacebuilding, security sector reform, DDR, arms management, and post-conflict recovery.
